Tom Yum is a Thai soup, usually cooked with shrimp. Literally, the words "tom yam" are derived from two Thai words: "tom" and "yam". "Tom" refers to boiling process, while "yam" refers to a Thai spicy and sour salad. The taste for me is a bit sour, spicy and creamy ( because of the milk). They have so many variant of tom yum, normally the ingredients is seafood, but they also have tom yum chicken, meat and beef.

Note for Muslim: Even it's seafood tom yum, make sure the soup isn't from pork broth

Som Tum is a popular Thai dish that showcases fresh vegetables is som tum Thai (ส้มตำไทย), or green papaya salad. often made of shredded unripe papaya, sliced tomatoes, raw green beans, peanuts, crushed dried mini shrimp, and fresh garlic. Carrots and green or purple cabbage may be included and add a pop of color. A sweet, salty, tangy sauce made of sugar, lime juice, and fish sauce completes the dish. It can be easily altered by leaving out an ingredient or two (no shrimp for vegetarians), but don’t be afraid to try it in its original form.

The variation :

-Som tum bpoo is green papaya salad with whole baby    salty crabs

-Som tum talae is seafood papaya salad and often has     a mixture of shrimp, baby crab, squid, and mussels

-Som tum mamuang is green mango salad (My          favourite. I recommended you to try this one!)

CAUTION (If you dont really like spicy) :

Normally it's spicy!

Note for Muslim: Some Som Tum aded by pork, make sure to ask first before buy! :)

Pad Thai is a stir-fried rice noodle dish commonly served as a street food and at casual local eateries in Thailand. It is made with soaked dried rice noodles, which are stir-fried with eggs and chopped firm tofu, and flavored with tamarind pulp, fish sauce (nampla à¸™à¹‰à¸³à¸›à¸¥à¸²), dried shrimp, garlic or shallots, redchili pepper and palm sugar, and served with lime wedges and often chopped roast peanuts. It may also contain other vegetables like bean sprouts, garlic chives, coriander leaves, pickled radishes or turnips (hua chaipo à¸«à¸±à¸§à¹„ชโป๊), and raw banana flowers. It may also contain fresh shrimp, crab, squid, chicken or other proteins. Vegetarian versions may substitute soy sauce for the fish sauce and omit the shrimp.
